About Senate District 61
The 61st State Senate District encompasses: the Towns of Amherst, Clarence, and Newstead and the Villages of Akron and Williamsville in Erie County; the Towns of Chili and Riga, the Village of Churchville and part of the City of Rochester in Monroe County; and all of Genesee County. Two cities, 18 towns, 10 Villages, and 25 unified school districts with a total population of 292,927 residents.
It is bordered by five senate districts, overlaps with five Assembly districts, and three Congressional districts.
The district is comprised of 78% white, 11% african american, 5% asian, and 3% latinx, with a median household income of $62,800.
There are unique challenges in SD61 that cannot be addressed with sweeping pieces of legislation. Each community has and deserves a voice at the table. That's why Kim is dedicated to visiting each town in the Senate District every year to hear directly from you.
Healthcare and Education are the two largest industries in SD61 while Manufacturing and Agriculture provide more than 30% of the part time jobs available in the region.
